You’ve booked an appointment for a customized facial. You’re sure your face will glow afterward—and you’re right. But the benefits of facials go far beyond the treatment itself.
For first-time clients, “a facial is an introduction to a skin-care professional,” says Pamela Dunn, aesthetician at Atlantic Health System’s Chambers Center for Well-Being.
During an express (30-minute) facial, an aesthetician will lightly exfoliate the skin to remove dead skin cells from the surface of your face. “We’ll also ask about your current skin care regimen,” Dunn says.
During a full-length (60-minute) facial, an aesthetician will spend more time assessing your skin type and recommend customized treatment and care based on your skin’s specific needs. Treatment may include an enzyme facial, a light micropeel or a combination of both. “Choosing the right treatment will help give you the best result,” Dunn says.
