Morristown, NJ – Safe Kids Northern New Jersey, a community-based Injury Prevention Coalition of the trauma service at Atlantic Health System’s Morristown Medical Center, recognized outstanding organizations and individuals that share its mission of reducing fatalities, injuries and property damage due to unintentional injuries on the road, at home and at play at its18th Annual Awards Reception held today at the Rockaway Garden Hilton in Rockaway, NJ.
John Cichowski, author and retired columnist for the Bergen Record and known as the “Road Warrior” shared the most influential traffic stories he covered since 1990 in his keynote address.

PO Andrew Underwood – East Hanover Police Department
Andrew Underwood has advanced his Child Passenger Safety (CPS) skills by completing the CPS Instructor Training and taking a lead role as a senior checker at our CPS stations. Andrew shares his knowledge with parents, caregivers and other transportation colleagues.

The 2019 CPV Vision Award
Rt. Chief Christopher Wagner – Denville Police Department
In his years as a Denville Police Officer and ultimately Chief, Chris Wagner was a visionary who moved new ideas and projects forward. His contribution to Injury Prevention went well beyond the town of Denville as he impacted action and discussion on statewide, regional and national platforms.
The award is named for Carl P. Valenziano, MD, the first director of Trauma, Injury Prevention and Critical Care at Morristown Medical Center, whose vision lives on through the CPV Vision Award.
Hats Off For Helmets Logo Design Winners
With sponsors Mountain Creek and Pelican Sports, high school and middle school students were asked to create a helmet sticker that will inspire everyone to wear a helmet when they ski or snowboard.
