Chief Nursing Officer, Hackettstown Medical Center and Newton Medical Center
Ginell Walker-Way, RN, BSN, MBA, MAS, NE-BC was named Chief Nursing Officer in April 2022. She is responsible for Chilton Medical Center’s daily operations, including nursing, case management, emergency services, patient experience and more. Walker-Way works closely with physicians and leaders, both at the hospital and across Atlantic Health System. She is a strong advocate for patient care and nursing excellence while also focusing on recruitment and retention.
Prior to her current role, Walker-Way served as the Director of Nursing at Atlantic Health System’s Hackettstown Medical Center. She held the position of Manager of ICU, Cath Lab, Pacemaker Clinic, Cardiology Services at both Hackettstown and Newton Medical Centers from September 2018 through 2021. Walker-Way has held management positions in five of the Atlantic Health System sites over the years. She joined Atlantic Health System in 1995 as a staff nurse in the Cath Lab at Overlook Medical Center. Over the many years, Walker-Way progressively transitioned to various leadership roles at Morristown Medical Center, Atlantic Medical Group, and most recently at Newton and Hackettstown Medical Centers. These experiences have provided her with a unique perspective and has allowed her to enhance her leadership skills and develop great relationships across the organization.
Walker-Way has a diverse clinical leadership background with experience in Cardiology, Critical Care, Outpatient and Surgical Services. Throughout her career at Atlantic Health System, she has actively cultivated a supportive and collaborative environment to drive clinical excellence in nursing. Walker-Way has led patient safety and quality initiatives to improve patient experience and outcomes and is a staunch advocate for nurses, employee engagement and professional development. She promotes a culture of diversity and inclusion, positivity, empowerment, safety and best practices for all.
Walker-Way is a member of the American Nurses Association, the Organization of Nurse Leaders NJ, and the American College of Healthcare Executives; and she serves on the Board of Directors for the Northern NJ chapter of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN). She is also a board-certified nurse executive through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Walker-Way holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Rutgers University and has also earned her Master in Administrative Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a Master of Business Administration from Seton Hall University.
