In-person sleep studies — including adult polysomnography, multiple sleep latency, titration and split night studies, as well as maintenance of wakefulness tests — are available at our Livingston and Chilton Medical Center locations. Our pediatric sleep center is also providing overnight sleep studies for children.

Home sleep studies are available at our access centers. Please call to schedule an appointment for in-person device pick up.

Diagnosing a sleep disorder depends largely upon the patient’s symptoms and may require a variety of tests. At Atlantic Health Sleep Centers, we assess patients using:

  • Physical examination
  • Detailed review of medication use and family history
  • Sleep study, or polysomnography, if appropriate

In some cases, we may ask patients to keep a detailed history of their sleep patterns in a diary, journal or medical device for one to two weeks to aid in the diagnosis.

Sleep Studies

An overnight sleep study is one of the most valuable tests used by our centers.  It is a painless and non-invasive recording of the quantity and quality of an individual’s sleep. The data obtained from these studies helps us diagnose and treat sleep-related breathing disorders, movement disorders, difficulty initiating or maintaining sleep, and behavioral sleep disorders. Sleep studies can be performed at our sleep centers or in the comfort of your home.
