Atlantic Health Spine Care takes an integrated team approach to spine, neck and back pain. Our orthopedic surgeons and neurosurgeons collaborate on solutions that achieve the longest-lasting results with the least amount of invasiveness.

Treatment is individualized to each patient and in many cases, pain can be managed with integrative medicine and medication. Complex spine conditions – such as spinal deformities, spinal cord tumors and spinal cord or nerve root compression – may require comprehensive intervention from our surgeons, specially-trained nurses, and physical and occupational therapists.

An Overview of Spine Surgery at Overlook Medical Center

Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery

Morristown Medical Center, Overlook Medical Center and Chilton Medical Center use minimally invasive spine surgical (MISS) techniques to address many spinal disorders with much smaller incisions compared to traditional surgery. Our neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons are aided by the highly-precise imaging offered through the O-arm® Intra-operative Imaging System and the StealthStation® Surgical Navigation System. This advanced technology, coupled with minimal access approaches, typically results in less blood loss and tissue damage, shorter hospital stays and a faster return to normal activities.

In addition to our minimally invasive surgical techniques, Atlantic Health System spine surgeons and pain specialists use other advanced techniques such as:

  • Cervical disc replacement
  • Minimally invasive fusions (TLIF and XLIF)
  • O-arm image guidance
  • Dorsal column stimulators
  • Epidural injections
