Learn more about what the medical team at Atlantic Medical Group Pediatrics at Morristown recommends for daily vitamin supplements.

Vitamins

All infants under 1 year

  • 0-6 months: D Vi-Sol, 1 dropper per day
  • 6-12 months: Poly-Vi-Sol with iron, 1 dropper per day

All infants 12-24 months

  • Poly-vi-sol with iron, 1 dropper per day

All children 2 years and up

  • "Complete" chewable multivitamin with iron (for example, Flintstones or Centrum Complete)
  • Multivitamins are available over-the-counter and do not require a prescription. Unfortunately, most gummy vitamins don’t have iron, so they're not a good choice.

Fluoride

Under 3 Years:

  • When the first tooth erupts, we recommend brushing teeth once a day with a fluoride toothpaste using a rice grain sized amount
  • A Fluoride supplement may be prescribed starting at 6 months if the pediatrician feels there is an increased risk for developing cavities.

At age 3 and up the physician will prescribe a fluoride supplement or recommend a daily fluoride rinse.
