Volunteering at the Cancer Center

As a volunteer at Carol G. Simon Cancer Center at Morristown Medical Center, you will gain practical work experience, as well as personal satisfaction improving the welfare of our cancer patients. Positions include:

Hospital volunteers in the cancer center
Front desk
– personally greets patients, family and visitors as they enter the Cancer Center; provides assistance, directions and information with a reassuring smile
Patient resource center
– assists patients and their families in obtaining information about different treatments, web sites and support organizations
Patient caregiver services
– visits with, comforts and assists patients, families and caregivers who are waiting for or are receiving treatment
Office helpers
– assists various departments with general office support, such as filing, data entry, paperwork and mailings
Music in the Atrium and High Tea programs
– a warm, welcoming environment in our lobby on Mondays and Wednesdays provides visitors with refreshments, music and emotional support
Adult oncology unit
– assists in providing care, comfort and support to those receiving inpatient services
Resource navigators
– helps patients and caregivers gain access to our cancer center, community resources and support programs that will assist them before, during and after treatment
Carol W. and Julius A. Rippel Breast Center
– welcomes and guides patients to the Breast Center for their mammography and diagnostic tests
