Since March 2020, NJ FamilyCare/Medicaid members have remained automatically enrolled in their plans without having to confirm their eligibility annually due to the COVID-19 related Public Health Emergency enacted by the federal government.
In December 2022, Congress enacted legislation that now requires states to resume the previous processes for confirming Medicaid eligibility. Beginning in April 2023, NJ FamilyCare members are required to once again renew their eligibility every twelve months to ensure their benefits are still active. All NJ FamilyCare members who wish to continue their enrollment in the program must renew their eligibility.
To avoid a gap in health care coverage, members must do the following every year:
- Make sure NJ FamilyCare/Medicaid has the member’s correct mailing address on file:
Members can confirm their contact information by calling NJ FamilyCare at 1-800-701-0710 (TTY:711).
- Respond to mail from NJ FamilyCare/Medicaid:
Members should receive and respond to mail from the State of New Jersey or their local County and/or Board of Social Services.
