Sports Physical Therapy Residency

The Sports Residency Program at Atlantic Health is in the process for applying for candidacy status through the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education (ABPTRFE).

Achieving candidacy status is not an indication that ABPTRFE will grant initial accreditation. Participants who graduate from a program in candidacy status are not deemed to have completed an accredited program.

The Atlantic Sports Health Physical Therapy Residency provides an advanced, evidence-based education to physical therapists who aspire to obtain their board certification in sports physical therapy.

We utilize evidence-based research to promote and encourage superior clinical reasoning skills that advance clinical competency in the assessment, management, and treatment of individuals with sports injuries.

We aim to retain exceptionally qualified specialists who collaborate within a multidisciplinary organization and who provide optimal outcomes in patient care. Who demonstrate clinical excellence by cultivating an environment that promotes professionalism, growth, and continuous improvement in the delivery of value-based health care services that address the needs of society.

As the official health care partner of the New York Jets, Atlantic Health System offers a unique hands-on experience at both our Morristown, NJ Sports Care facility and the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center.

Residents will have a variety of opportunities to shadow sports medicine physicians, radiologists, orthopedic surgeons, and other specialists with access to a state-of-the-art imaging center, and an ambulatory surgical center. Residents will also have opportunities to participate in event coverage for local high school and college athletes, as well as the professional players of the NFL’s New York Jets.

Residents will receive mentoring from highly trained physical therapists at our advanced sports physical therapy facility as they care for a broad range of injures for individuals of all ages in the athletic population.
