Dear Nursing Colleagues, Patients, Families, Friends and Community Members,

When patients and families walk through the doors of Overlook Medical Center they can expect to receive the highest quality nursing care by some of the most phenomenal nurses. With over 1,000 nurses, we embody the tenet that excellence is the anchor of our nursing practice. The ingenuity and creativity of nurses at Overlook, address the holistic needs of our patients and is reflected in our superior clinical quality outcomes, safety and patient experience. This commitment is consistent with the beliefs of Dr. Kristen Swanson, whose Theory of Caring guides our culture.

Overlook encourages professional development by supporting higher learning, professional education and nursing certification to make sure the nurses are prepared for what they encounter and ensuring excellent outcomes. The nurses at Overlook are active in professional development, quality improvement and shared governance which allows them to have a voice in their professional practice environment. There is continuous effort to recruit and retain the highest quality nursing professionals and provide an environment for their advancement and personal success.

In 2020, we achieved the highest standard of excellence for nursing care with our Magnet® designation. I truly believe that every nurse that encounters a patient has a part of how and why we are Magnet. We look forward in going above and beyond for our re-designation in 2024. I am so proud to work among the exceptional nurses we have at Overlook.
