Having a child with a medical emergency can be a stressful experience. At Atlantic Health System Children's Health Emergency Department at Goryeb Children’s Hospital at Morristown Medical Center and the Michael Gordon Reeves Pediatric Emergency Department at Goryeb Children’s Center at Overlook Medical Center, we work with the Child Life Program to help patients and their families better cope with the anxiety of a hospital visit.
Child life specialists provide a variety of services, such as support during procedures, education, recreational activities and emotional support. By directing a child patient’s attention away from the medical procedures at hand, child life specialists help our emergency nurses and physicians provide the highest level of care.
Social workers are also available for consultation when family circumstances require more assistance.
