Atlantic Health System's robotic surgery teams at Morristown Medical Center, Overlook Medical Center and Chilton Medical Center are among the very best in the Northeast, performing procedures offered at few other hospitals, while serving as a training ground for state-of-the-art robotic surgical techniques:
- Our physicians are proctors for surgeons in the tri-state area learning to perform urologic, gynecologic and urogynecologic robotic surgeries.
- We are part of a small group of hospitals in the New York metropolitan area that use robotic surgery to treat kidney tumors and ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO), or kidney obstruction.
- Our hospitals have dedicated teams of nurses specifically trained in robotic surgery, helping our surgeons provide better patient care.
- Most robotic surgery patients at Morristown and Overlook medical centers are cared for in a surgical unit dedicated specifically to minimally invasive surgery.
Robotic Surgery at Morristown Medical Center
We were the first in New Jersey to perform a laparoscopic radical prostatectomy and the first on the East Coast to perform robotic surgery for pelvic prolapse. We also offer robotic treatments for bladder cancer and neurogenic bladder that are only available at a few institutions worldwide, and our surgeons perform more robotic gynecologic surgeries, including those used in the treatment of cancer, than any other hospital in the state.
Robotic Surgery at Overlook Medical Center
Our nursing team has received a clinical excellence award from the Association of Peri-Operative Registered Nurses (AORN) for their research on how robotic surgery can improve patient satisfaction.
