Meet our Fellows

JACQUELINE NUZZI

Seton Hall, MHA
2024-2025 Fellowship Class

Upon completing her undergraduate studies at the University of Florida,
Jacqueline returned home to New Jersey to earn her master’s degree in
healthcare administration from Seton Hall University. While completing her
master’s program, she served as an Emergency Department Scribe, which
provided her with invaluable exposure to clinical operations. This role was
complemented with an internship at University Hospital, where she
acquired practical experience in healthcare administration.

Jacqueline’s experiences led her to develop a passion for behavioral health.
Her vision is to develop an integrated behavioral health system that ensures
seamless care continuity, spanning from acute crisis intervention to
comprehensive outpatient services. Jacqueline is enthusiastic about joining
Atlantic Health System, where she aspires to gain diverse experiences across
different departments and contribute to the broader improvement of
healthcare services.

Enviasia Mitchell

Fairleigh Dickinson University, MPA
2023-2024 Fellowship Class
First Post-Fellowship Role: Project Manager for Atlantic Medical Group Quality Department

Born and raised in Trenton, New Jersey, Enviasia witnessed the cyclic nature of poverty and its impact on quality of life and well-being. This experience fueled her career passions of making an impact and becoming a servant leader. Enviasia earned her undergraduate degree in 2022 and graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson’s School of Public and Global Affairs with her MPA in 2023. During her academic career, Enviasia completed various internships working in public health homeless operations, home health reimbursement, and project management. Each of these experiences provided Enviasia with a unique opportunity to explore health care in different capacities.

Further expanding on her knowledge of healthcare operations – the fellowship afforded Enviasia the opportunity to lead the design and implementation of various population health initiatives, enhance her skills in strategic business planning, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to accomplish organizational objectives. Her role as a project manager for Atlantic Medical Group aligns with her overarching goal of making a transformational impact and improving the quality of life and care for all patients.

Laura Makin

Yale University, MPH
2022-2023 Fellowship Class

Laura completed her undergraduate degree at Princeton University in 2020 and received her Master of Public Health degree from the Yale School of Public Health in 2022. With a background in biology and public health, Laura has always been passionate about the healthcare field. Her experiences working with free clinics and in digital health solidified her interest in pursuing healthcare administration and improving patient care.

Post-fellowship, Laura is now a Project Manager for Hospital Administration at Overlook Medical Center. Through her journey, she developed interests in population health, healthcare innovation, and quality improvement. She is excited to align her interests with Atlantic Health’s commitment to improving the health and well-being of the communities served.

Birjis Khan

University of Oklahoma, MHA
2022-2023 Fellowship Class
First Post-Fellowship Role: Program Manager, Strategic Initiatives 

After graduating with an undergraduate degree in biology and medical humanities, Birjis worked in the pharmaceutical industry conducting clinical trials across multiple phases. Her commitment to improving the delivery of patient care led her to pursue a master's degree in health administration and policy. During her graduate studies, Birjis worked with the Department of Health & Human Services to develop crisis response plans for underserved communities. She also worked with nonprofits analyzing workflows to identify gaps and improve care coordination. Throughout her tenure as an Administrative Fellow, Birjis worked on a diverse set of projects which significantly broadened her industry knowledge and reinforced her dedication to initiating change. Upon completion of the fellowship Birjis joined the department of Planning and System Development as a Program Manager.

Sarah Liu

Pennsylvania State University, MHA
2021-2022 Fellowship Class
First Post-Fellowship Role: Program Manager, Integrated Care

Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Sarah graduated from Penn State in 2021 with both her bachelor’s degree in Health Policy and Administration and her master’s degree in Health Administration. She has always expressed interest in a career where she could make a positive impact on people, organizations, and the community. With this in mind, she realized that based on personal experiences and educational background, working in healthcare administration was the perfect fit for her, and a summer internship at NYU Langone Health helped her solidify that decision. During her graduate studies, she also got exposure working in hospice care and physician practice management while also working as a Public Health Ambassador at Penn State.

Throughout her time as an administrative fellow, she was able to participate and lead projects related to community/population health, quality and patient safety, innovation, and more. These experiences prepared Sarah for her first post-fellowship role as a Program Manager for Integrated Care where she oversees the development and implementation of new programs and key initiatives that support the strategic direction of the department while also improving quality and patient experience.

Jud Mustapha

University of Illinois, Chicago, MHA
2020-2021 Fellowship Class
First Post-Fellowship Role: Project Manager for Morristown Medical Center Administration

Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Jud completed his undergraduate degree in health information management and received his master’s degree in health administration from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is heavily involved in volunteer work nationally and abroad, organizing health fairs in Chicago for low-income communities and in Lebanon for orphans and refugees. Prior to his master’s program, he worked for a durable medical equipment company as an operations supervisor. He then joined Advocate Aurora Health's ACO and worked with physicians at the hospital and practice level to improve the quality, patient experience, and decrease costs.

Through these experiences, he has interest in community work, population health, and service line operations. Joining the fellowship program at Atlantic Health System helped him achieve and explore his interests and further prepare him for his post-fellowship role as a Project Manager for hospital administration at Morristown Medical Center.

Brian Martin

Cornell University, MHA
2019-2020 Fellowship Class
First Post-Fellowship Role: Project Manager for Atlantic Health System Operations

After graduating from University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he studied public health and economics, Brian earned his master’s degree in health administration. He spent his graduate school summer as an administrative resident at Morristown Medical Center and joined Atlantic Health System as the first hospital-based administrative fellow in 2019.  During his fellowship, he had the opportunity to lead hospital-based operational initiatives, gain exposure to system leadership, and enhance his emergency management skills throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Upon completion of his fellowship, Brian transitioned into a project manager role within Atlantic Health System's operations department. He has since built and managed a 50+ per diem pool of team members to address staffing challenges, led system-wide operational initiatives, brokered a joint venture with a community small business, and managed multiple service line projects. Brian’s operations experience, along with his goal to impact as many lives as possible, pushes him to work hard every day.

Madison Cripps

2019-2020 Fellowship Class
First Post-Fellowship Role: Practice Manager for Atlantic Medical Group

As a New Jersey native, Madison was excited to return to her home state when she began her fellowship at Atlantic Health System during the summer of 2019. Madison received her bachelor of science degree in policy analysis and management with a focus in health policy and minors in business and law and society from Cornell University in 2017. She then pursued her master’s degree in health services administration at University of Michigan to gain more hands-on experience across the health care industry. As a graduate student, she engaged in project and volunteer work at the University of Michigan School of Public Health, Michigan Medicine, the University of Michigan Medical School’s student-run free clinic, and through an internship at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland.

Throughout her fellowship, Madison worked heavily on projects involving process implementation and improvement to address several social determinants of health in the outpatient setting, drafted the Community Health Needs Assessments for Atlantic Health System hospitals and service areas, and became directly involved in some of Atlantic Health System's first COVID-19 response initiatives. Upon the conclusion of her fellowship, Madison accepted a role within Atlantic Medical Group, where she was given the opportunity to pilot a model for practice management in the leased practice environment, lead strategic project work across practice sites, and gain exposure to and experience in the ambulatory care setting.

Ian Cronin

Johns Hopkins, MHA
2018-2019 Fellowship Class
First Post-Fellowship Role: Finance Manager for Insurance Strategy

Ian joined Atlantic Health System as an Administrative Fellow in 2018 after earning a his master of health administration degree at Johns Hopkins University in Maryland. Prior to earning his MHA, Ian graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2014 and worked as a consultant for Allscripts where he focused on health system electronic health record  implementation and clinical quality reporting. During his administrative fellowship, Ian helped lead a system wide workforce management initiative in which Atlantic Health System standardized workforce policies across the system. He also helped develop a centralized productivity team designed to optimize staffing to demand throughout all departments at all the hospitals.

After his fellowship, Ian transitioned to the Insurance Strategy and Business Advisory roles where he has worked in several capacities including as the managed care contractor for the physician and ambulatory entities and most recently as the manager responsible for facilitating the business and financial planning process at Atlantic Health System.

Kyle Lee

2017-2018 Fellowship Class
First Post-Fellowship Role: Value-based Operations and Analytics Manager, Atlantic Health System

Kyle Lee joined Atlantic Health System as the inaugural administrative fellow in 2017. He is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, where he earned his bachelor of science degree in finance and health care management, and Cornell University, where he earned his master’s degree in health administration. During his fellowship, Kyle participated, led, and completed projects related to integrated care delivery initiatives, including population health strategy, design of a centralized care management department, and ambulatory strategic planning.

Kyle’s prior experience includes financial planning at Johns Hopkins Medicine and electronic medical records implementation at Deloitte Consulting. Leveraging this background, Kyle joined our fellowship program to further explore the administration side of health care. Now overseeing value operations and analytics at Atlantic Health System, he enjoys solving complex health care problems using data and working with clinicians and administrators to build the best care model for patients.
