Fellows enrolled in Overlook Medical Center’s Sports Medicine Fellowship will have an intensive academic experience that includes:
- Orthopedic and medical grand rounds
- Weekly academic sports medicine lecture series focused on medical and musculoskeletal topics; fellows are expected to give two lectures in this, as well as attend a national sports medicine conference
- Monthly journal club, organized for both primary care sports medicine fellows (allopathic and osteopathic) as well as orthopedic sports fellows from Lenox Hill Hospital
- Yearly participation in the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) research seminar
- Local research conference series
- Research project of choice
- Optional attendance at the Hackett Hemwall Foundation Annual Prolotherapy Conference
- Completion of an annual case report, presented at the national meeting of the American Osteopathic Association of Sports Medicine (AOASM)
Fellows also have the opportunity to participate in a two-week medical mission to Honduras with the Hackett Hemwall Foundation, during which they receive extensive training in anatomy and prolotherapy.
