Family-Based Treatment (FBT), also known as the Maudsley Method, is an outpatient form of treatment for medically-stable patients with eating disorders that puts parents in charge of nourishing their child, while a therapist provides coaching and support. Physician services are provided by Atlantic Medical Group and are on staff at Goryeb Children's Hospital.
Pediatric Eating Disorders at Atlantic Health System Children's Health is one of the only programs in the state that uses FBT in all levels of care – outpatient, intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization. All of our staff is trained in FBT, and most of our therapists are certified in FBT by the Training Institute for Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders.
