At the Pediatric Eating Disorders Center at Atlantic Health System Children's Health, we believe that eating disorder treatment must address all psychological, family, social, nutritional and medical issues to be effective.
Our program focuses on outpatient care so that patients can remain close to home and their families can fully participate in the recovery process. Therapy typically includes medical monitoring, nutritional counseling, psychiatric and psychosocial consultations and Family-Based Treatment. Physician services are provided by Atlantic Medical Group and are on staff at Goryeb Children's Hospital.
We also offer services tailored to age and individual needs for patients who may need more intensive treatments to manage an eating disorder:
- Adolescent intensive outpatient program – Teens who have made significant psychological and medical progress continue to receive eating disorder treatment as they re-integrate back into school.
- Child intensive outpatient program – Younger children who have made progress both mentally and physically begin the transition back to school, while continuing their eating disorder therapy.
- Adolescent partial hospitalization program – Kids ages 13 to 21 who are medically and psychologically compromised as a result of their eating disorders attend daily structured programming focused on restoring health.
- Child partial hospitalization program – Children ages 8 to 12 who have medical and mental health complications due to eating disorders receive structured treatment on a daily basis.
In cases where an eating disorder has resulted in hospitalization, our team of professionals can assist with medical stabilization.
