Understanding Brain Tumors

A brain tumor is a growth of abnormal cells in the brain, which can be cancerous (malignant) or not cancerous (benign). Benign brain tumors grow slowly, tend to not spread to other areas of the body and have defined borders. Malignant tumors, in contrast, grow quickly and are more invasive. Both may be considered life threatening, depending upon their location and if they interfere with vital bodily functions.

Some tumors start in the brain (primary brain tumors). In other cases, cancer starts elsewhere in the body and spreads to the brain (metastatic tumors). No matter which type, our team of specialists is here for you and your loved ones.
