Atlantic Health System Cancer Care offers several support services to help cancer patients deal with non-medical concerns, manage medical bill payments and maintain a nutritious diet.

Psychosocial Support and Counseling Services

At any time during your treatment, a social worker with specialized expertise in oncology can assist you and your family with any non-medical problems related to your diagnosis, treatment or hospitalization. You can rely on us to help resolve issues regarding community or health care resources, work-related issues, financial assistance, home care needs or hospice care. You can even meet privately with a counselor to address any fears, anxieties or depression that you may be experiencing.

Nutritional Counseling

Good nutrition is an integral part of well-being, but your cancer treatment may make it more difficult for you to get the nutrition you need to heal. Our oncology dietitians work with other members of your health care team to develop a nutritional plan that’s right for you and diet strategies designed to help you fight your disease and improve your health outcomes. We also provide instructional materials, support groups, educational sessions and one-on-one counseling.

Financial Assistance

Atlantic Health System offers patients and their families assistance with navigating the cost of medical bills. Financial counselors are available to help by explaining your financial responsibility for services or to determine if you are eligible for assistance program. You may be eligible for charity care, Medicaid or other discount programs that may cover all or part of your medical bills. Learn more about the programs and eligibility criteria >
