
BETH C. NATT, MD, MPH, MBA
CHAIR OF PEDIATRICS, GORYEB CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL SYSTEM MEDICAL DIRECTOR, PEDIATRIC SERVICE LINE
Dr. Beth C. Natt has joined Atlantic Health as the Chair of Pediatrics for Goryeb Children’s Hospital-Morristown Medical Center and Overlook Medical Center as well as the System Medical Director for Pediatrics for Atlantic Health System. Dr. Natt comes to us after a role at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center where she was the Regional Clinical Director of Hospital Partnership Operations, and was responsible for the operational oversight of 4 different community-based pediatric inpatient units. Prior to her time at Connecticut Children’s, she was a Medical Director of Inpatient Pediatrics at Bridgeport Hospital/Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital, where she was the site director for the Pediatric Residency.
Dr. Natt graduated medical school from University of Connecticut with her MD as well as Master’s of Public Health and has recently completed her MBA with a focus in Healthcare from Yale in 2023. She has been active on a national level with the American Academy of Pediatrics, and is a Senior Fellow of Hospital Medicine through the Society of Hospital Medicine.
Dr. Natt is a mother of 4, loves being outdoors, and will show you pictures of her dogs any chance she gets.

Mahsa Akhavan, MD
Director, Pediatric Residency Program
Dr. Mahsa Akhavan is a board-certified Pediatric Emergency Medicine physician with Envision, currently serving in the Pediatric Emergency Department at Goryeb Children’s Hospital at Morristown Medical Center. She also holds the position of Pediatric Residency Program Director and is deeply involved in clinical education and program development.
Dr. Akhavan earned both her undergraduate and medical degrees through the seven-year BS/MD program at the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education in New York City and Stony Brook School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency at Jacobi Medical Center, followed by a Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship at Cohen Children’s Medical Center/Northwell Health.
She brings a wealth of clinical experience from her work at multiple hospitals across New York and New Jersey prior to joining Goryeb Children’s Hospital full time. Dr. Akhavan had also served as the Associate Program Director for the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship. She leads the hospital’s participation in the Improving Pediatric Sepsis Outcomes (IPSO) national collaborative. Her dedication extends to committee service and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Dr Akhavan has always had a passion for medical education, trainee mentorship, and community outreach. She enjoys teaching and quality improvement projects. She has received multiple awards including “Clinical Instructor of the Year” and “Top Performer” “Most Improved” for her IPSO collaborative team. She is also a published author in multiple peer-reviewed medical journals.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Akhavan enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and their energetic puppy. She leads an active lifestyle filled with biking, sports, and Orange Theory workouts.

Laura Criscenzo, DO
Associate Director, Pediatric Residency Program
Medical Director, Healthstart Program
Dr. Laura Criscenzo is a general pediatrician for Atlantic Medical Group, Medical Director of the Overlook Medical Center Pediatric HealthStart Clinic and serves as an Associate Program Director for the Goryeb Pediatric Residency program at Goryeb Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Criscenzo is committed to community pediatrics and child advocacy and maintains a special interest in pediatric nutrition and obesity.
Dr. Criscenzo received her BS from Saint Mary’s College at Notre Dame in South Bend, IN. She completed a master’s program at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in New York City where she went on to receive her medical degree, as well.
She completed her pediatric training as well as a chief year at Goryeb Children’s Hospital. After residency she joined as a general pediatrician with Atlantic Medical Group and maintained a close relationship working with the pediatric residents while also precepting at the HealthStart clinic as well as becoming a faculty advisor for the residency’s Journal Club.
When she is not working, Dr. Criscenzo enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, reading, watching hockey and college football, and exercising with Peloton.

Allison Hubschmann, DO
Associate Director, Pediatric Residency Program
Dr. Allison Hubschmann is a pediatric hospitalist with Atlantic Medical Group and serves as an Associate Program Director for the Goryeb Pediatric Residency Program at Goryeb Children’s Hospital.
She earned her BA from Georgetown University, where she was a member of the Division I women’s lacrosse team. During that time, she also proudly represented the Czech Republic in two World Lacrosse Championships. She went on to receive her medical degree from the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Hubschmann is deeply committed to medical education and has a passion for teaching. In addition to her role as Associate Program Director, she is launching a new simulation program for pediatric residents at Goryeb.
She completed both her pediatric residency and her chief resident year at Goryeb Children’s Hospital. Throughout her training, Dr. Hubschmann was an advocate for her peers, serving as president of the AHS Resident Council during her final two years. She is excited to continue championing resident advocacy in her leadership role.
A New Jersey native, Dr. Hubschmann enjoys spending her free time with her husband, friends, and their large families—including one niece and thirteen nephews! A big fan of Halloween, she proudly displays a 13-foot Jack Skellington on her lawn each October.
